Ness

  • Brothers John and Robert both worked at Head Office. 

  • John was in the Chief Accountant's department (Financial Control) from 1966 at one stage amalgamating all the branch abstracts into reports to the Reserve Bank, and later as the bank's Money Market dealer before working in Procedures at St. Leonards Centre, London Office and setting up Banksure. 

  • Robert was in Premises department as Architect and worked on the formation of St. Leonards Centre.   John joined at Yagoona under Doug Gibson. and Robert at Petersham under Mac Cottee.

  • Victor Paull

  • Lawrie (Lawrence) Victor Paull, son of Victor Paull.
    1967 March 20 opening Manager of Baulkham Hills with John Beer as 2ic
    Lawrie  lived at Berrigan, Moree, Sydney Belrose 
         
    Lawrie had been CBC Inspectors Clerk, Accountant Campsie, Accountant Lane Cove when he and Barbara had twin daughters,
    19670320 Lawrie was opening Manager of new branch Baulkham Hills,
    c1970 resigned as Mgr Baulkham Hills after not taking up transfer to Manager Engadine area  Lawrie did not take move to Manager Engadine,
    Lawrie joined Building Society, and was Secretary of Building Society.
    2017 June Lawrie's daughter said Lawrie is in nursing home at Belrose.

  • Barbara Paull married Lawrie V. Paul

  • R N Paull mentioned in Current Accounts 1971 January issue page 7.

Plunkett

  • Noirin Griffin of nab Albury enquired via the website if we had any photos of Lockhart branch where Dianne was stationed in 1975.  She has been in the bank for 35 years and currently at Albury.  They reproduced some of the photos and the article and had it framed and presented it to Diane today 10/12/08 (yes it was Diane Plunkett now Diane Bartsch).

Poulton

  • Edwin E. Poulton retired from Manager Redfern branch in 1920.

  • His daughter, Merrill Poulton worked in Head Office.

  • Merrill's husband, M.E. Graham retired from Manager Bondi in 1955. 

Ramsay

  • A.N. (Alec) Ramsay
     1934 Manager Cunnamulla (Century of Banking Pg 84)
    John Ramsay advised: My father A.N.Ramsay – known as Alec – Joined at Head Office then transferred to Country Enlisted for WW 1 while at Wee Waa. Following the War was Teller Inverell, Teller/Accountant Warialda, Accountant Stanthorpe, Manager Gayndah, Cunnamulla and Young. Alec was Manager at Cunnamulla until early 1937.  Later Manager at Young from 1937 to 1949. 
    Following my mother’s death spent the rest of his career as a Relieving Manager. Retired as a relieving Manager in 1959.
  • Joyce Ramsay
    Daughter of A.N. Ramsay, was in the Bank at Young branch 1938-1945.  She was Junior, Ledgerkeeper and Relief Teller.

  • Hilton Ramsay
    Hilton died 19 Jan 2008 late of Hornsby. He was father and father in law of Lynette & Neil Silver, and Rhonda & Ross Hayes.
    Death Notice SMH & DT 21 Jan 2008 Service Wed 1pm Magonlia Chapel Macquarie Park Crematorium.

Rankin

  • George Rankin was a Director of Bathurst Bank

  • George Rankin was Manager CBCofS Cootamundra and passed away 28 July 1957 (Current Accounts 1958 Jan Pg 7) who had a son:-

  • George D Rankin who was a Sub-Inspector and later Staff Lending Manager. George passed away about the late 1970s.

  • George D Rankin married Judith Roberts who worked in CBCofS Culcairn and later in Sydney. They lived in Spit Junction and had a daughter Julia .
    J A Rankin Mosman is listed in 2007 Sydney White Pages which was telephoned 2007 June 23 Saturday 10:30am where it was learned:-
    2006 February Judith had a stroke and has daughter Julia looking after her.
    Listing in 2006 Sydney White Pages:- "Rankin J A Myahgah Rd Mosman 2088". 
    John Beer

Raymond-Jones

  • Rowan Raymond-Jones joined CBC as Rowan Jones at Newcastle West in 1955 then to branches in NW NSW, then Ulladulla.  He changed his surname to Raymond-Jones. He followed John Ness in Forms Design in the Procedures Department at St. Leonards Centre (see Current Accounts May 1981 page 15)

  • Miss Raymond-Jones, Rowan's 17 year-old daughter was employed at St. Ives branch.

Redhead

  • W H G Redhead was Manager Copmanhurst (Century of Banking Pg 80).

  • Arthur W Redhead was Manager Pilliga later Audit Staff HO; 1990s approximately changed surname to Hayes retired to Ourimbah.

  • Marion Redhead of Head Office: engagement to Norman Hood (1961 January Current Accounts Pg 46)

Reeves

  • Mr & Mrs Reeves had a home on the highway at the southern part of Blandford just South of Murrurundi where the following were raised and each joined CBC:
  • Bill Reeves, whose last branch he managed was Wagga Wagga and prior to that he was manager at Singleton.  Bill Reeves married Margaret Fryer from Epping Branch.  Bill took Frank Lumleys old job as Manager Leasing and also was with the Busines Development taskforce in between Singleton and Wagga, which was headed by Geoff Brearley.

  • Phil Reeves was Manager of Mandurama branch which by November 2006 had been closed by NAB.  From Banksure, he went to Greater Pacific which became part of ANZ. Phil's sister-in-law Robyn Metcalfe worked at Kings Cross branch.

  • Reg Reeves was Manager Henty and Young branches before resigning.
    Reg's wife's niece, Debbie Haddrill, worked at Wagga branch.

  • Their cousins, Joy and Lyn Small worked in the bank; Joy at Marrickville and Lyn at Mascot, and Joy's husband, Barry Rhind, worked as a messenger in the Stationery Store.

Robertson

  • J.L.S. Robertson was Manager Woodstock (Pg 81 Century of Banking)

  • Frank S. Robertson:
    1900s joined at somewhere like Camden from where first transfer was to Robertson branch
    1960s/70s:- Sub-Inspector
    1960s/70s At CBC Staff retirement farewell in Barrack Street Club on retirement, Frank S Robertson, Sub-Inspector, said he joined CBC Bank at Robertson.

  • Noel Robertson was Manager, Neutral Bay and the son of J.L.S Robertson, also a CBC manager.

  • See also 'Lamb'.  Mrs. Robertson (nee Lamb) was the 4th generation of her mother's family and the 5th generation of her father's family to have served in the Bank.

  • Mrs. Felicity Welsh of Mosman branch is the daughter of J.N.H. Robertson.
     

Rowlands

  • “I worked with John Rowlands at Seven Hills where I was Second Officer from 1962 until 1966. Decimal currency was introduced during that time and the hold up happened, which I see comments about from Colin Clark. If I remember correctly, the car was hit by three out of the five bullets John fired. The other two were never found! Was he the last Officer to fire a Bank revolver in anger? I think that is quite likely! John was well known for his gardening, although I think Leigh was actually the worker! We all had to traipse up to admire the garden after it was awarded prizes in each Garden Competition, but that wasn't a chore, it really was magnificent!

  • John's two sons both joined CBC;
    Allan resigned many years ago but Rob was still in NAB when I retired.
    John was very helpful to me during those years and I always held him in great esteem.” From Frank Maundrell.

Ryan

  • B T Ryan was born in New Zealand. In 1923 joined CBCofS at Manildra.  1926 transferred from North Dorrigo to Longreach.  He then served in many Queensland branches until 1941.
    1941 joined Army from Stanthorpe. WWII spent 5 years in the Army, and in New Guinea as Captain in the 25th Infantry Battalion.
    In 1946 he was attached to Wingham branch (home town) for rehabilitation. Appointed Manager Woodstock in 1947. 1969 October 31 retired from Manager Albury branch.
    He was very proud his three sons who also joined CBCofS (from Current Accounts January 1970)
