Extensive use was made of marble, the different types being: Caleula from 25km north of Orange for the columns and counters; Golden Cudgegong from near Mudgee for the writing desks, border trims and the grand staircase; Yass Black for the skirtings; Carrera White from Italy for the public areas floor paving. Caleula (creamy yellow) and Cudgegong (similar but more heavily figured with browns and red) were combined in the dado panelling around the walls.
