Golden%20Oldies

Our match against Revesby F.O.R.C.E. on 19th November, 2017, resulted in a third victory in a row. With the 3rd December, 2017 match against Goulburn Trinity Tigers washed out, we remained undefeated for the first half of the season.

Revesby batted first and compiled a healthy 5 for 228. In reply, Randel Pearce fell early for 2. Our second wicket fell at 140 and the third at 209 with six overs remaining. Six wickets fell in reaching 232 after 39 overs.

A match against Wollongong University on 14th January, 2018 was cancelled as the University team had double booked.

We played Springwood Royals on 28th January, 2018 at Windsor for the V.E Martin Trophy. After the downing of the Royals traditional shot of tawny the match began with Springwood having first use of the wicket. Each team was batting twelve. Springwood compiled 10/164. In reply CBC could only manage 9/132. Fourteen fours to four fours was the difference. Phil Bateup played his first game for the Club.

We travel to Goulburn on 11th February, 2018 to play the match that was washed out on 3rd December, 2017. This match is followed by March matches against Warners Bay and Newcastle Lord’s Taverners.

Our long serving secretary, Des Leggett, resigned effective 31st January, 2018. Des has been a fine servant of the Club both on the field and in an executive capacity. He was made a Life Member at the AGM in 2016. Thank you Des for all your efforts and we wish you well in the future.

The 18th Golden Oldies World Cricket Festival to be held in Christchurch NZ is less than two months away. Thirty nine teams have entered the competition. We have a party of 18 including 11 players travelling to New Zealand..

We are conducting a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Castle Hill on Saturday 17th March, 2018. Please come along and support us. Further sausage sizzles will be held in May and August, 2018.

 

Ian Holston continues with writing the history of the CBC Bank Cricket Club and CBC Golden Oldies Cricket Club. Publication date is getting close but is yet to be announced.
